Every Youth Deserves a Trained Leader
Youth participate in Scouting because it's fun! Part of making it fun is making sure the adults in the program get the training to know how to operate the Scouting program in a fun, safe and appropriate way. All leaders in the Pelathe District, Heart of America Council and throughout Scouting need to be trained to keep the program fun and interesting and keep the youth coming back for more.
All adult leaders MUST take Youth Protection Training. It must be renewed every two years and can be easily done online! Since this training program is online, we recommend you ask all adults, leaders, parents and other adults that interact with your youth, take Youth Protection Training. Even if someone is not registered with the BSA, they can take this very informative training. There are two versions of this training which are age-appropriate for youth in all our programs:

Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills is the required outdoor training for all Scoutmasters, Assistant Scoutmasters, and Varsity Scout Coaches. The skills taught are based on the outdoor skills found in The Boy Scout Handbook. The course is also ideal for Venturing leaders because it focuses on skills that build confidence and competence in leaders conducting outdoor camping experience.
Outdoor Webelos Leader training is applicable for Webelos Den Leaders and their assistants, the Outdoor Leader Skills for Webelos Leaders course teaches outdoor-related skills through demonstration and hands-on practice. Webelos den leaders should attend this training before conducting Webelos overnight camping with the boys and parents of the den. In addition to covering basic camping skills, this training features planning campouts and finding resources
IOLS and OWL have been integrated with IOLS, so you will be receiving trained cards for both training classes – a two-for-one deal!!!
