District Service Area
The Kaw District serves the counties of Wyandotte, Leavenworth, and northeast Johnson in Kansas and includes the school districts: Easton; Ft. Leavenworth; Leavenworth; Lansing; Piper; Basehor-Linwood; Tonganoxie; Bonner Springs/Edwardsville; Kansas City Kansas; Turner; and Shawnee Mission. The Kaw District and the Heart of America Council is dedicated to supporting the volunteer Scout leaders as they provide the programs of the Boy Scouts of America to the youth in this area.

2021-2022 District Banquet
The Kaw District dinner will take place on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7397 located at 9550 Pflumm Road, Lenexa KS 66215. The doors will open at 6:30 PM and the dinner and awards ceremony will begin promptly at 7:00 PM. Registration for the Kaw District dinner is on the HOAC website at igfn.us/form/rrKS6w.

The Kaw District will hold its annual banquet on Feb.9th,2022 - We will recognize your fellow scouters for any of the following awards: District award of Merit ( Mike Swearen, Gerry Hodson, Ken Herstowski, & Jason Lamons) Outstanding Scoutmaster ( Joel Whitaker & David Ayers) , Outstanding Assistant Scoutmaster (Joe Biddle, Michael Waller, and Steven Revare), Outstanding Cubmaster ( Greg Humphreys, Matt Harkins, & Andrew Conrad) , Outstanding Assistant Cubmaster (John Kallo), Outstanding Den Leader ( Aaron Winters), Outstanding Crew Advisor , Outstanding Committee Chair (Jason Middleton, Ross Polete, Andy Inzerillo ), Outstanding Committee Member (Tom Scaletty, & Mike Schmitz), Outstanding SPL ( Aaron Scaletty) , Outstanding Charter Org Rep (David Anderson & Bill Kidder), and District Outstanding Scouter ( Rick Thomann, John Weidenmann and Scott Fears).

On August 1, 2020 the Kaw District merged with the Shawnee Trails District to better serve the youth in the Leavenworth and Wyandotte counties, and the Shawnee Mission School District. The merger of these two districts have formed the new Kaw District. District leadership is currently working together to ensure that commitments for both districts like school night, training, and other activities are held as planned. Currently Roundtable is being held at Bonner Methodist Church each month; starting at 7pm. The Eagle project reviews and Eagle Board of Reviews will be handled in-person -- For information on the Eagle process, please see the Advancement page.
