District Dinner

The Blue Elk District Dinner is an opportunity to recognize adult Scouters for their dedication to Scouting, as well as new and deserving Eagle Scouts.  In addition, we will be recognizing the District Award of Merit recipients, the Scouter’s Spirit Award, the Silent Service Award and the Silver Beaver Award.  All Packs, Troops, and Crews are invited to attend this formal occasion.

Cub Scouts

Cub Family Campout

 

What is it?              The Cub Scout Family Campout is an opportunity for Scouts and their families to start the Cub Scout year off with a fun outdoor event. This overnight campout will feature games and activities designed for the entire family.

When?                    April 22-23 Fri-Sat and October 7-8

Where?                   Legion Farms -- Legion Dr, Blue Springs, MO 64014

Supervision?           A parent or guardian must accompany and be responsible for each Cub Scout and other family members for the entire event.

Cost?                      $15

Food?                     Cracker barrel Friday night and breakfast on Saturday. (Bring a lunch for Saturday)

What to Bring?       Each family is responsible for their own equipment. Suggested items to bring:

  • Tent, tarp, ground cloth or other shelter
  • Sleeping bag, blankets, pillow, air mattress or pad, camp chairs
  • Rain gear, change of clothes, warm jacket, sweatshirt, durable shoes
  • 3 bottles of water per person, toothpaste, toothbrush, soap, washcloth, towel
  • Hat or cap, flashlight, sunscreen, sunglasses, insect repellent, camera

Do Not Bring:         Some items are not needed, and others would be inappropriate:

  • Knives, saws, axes, etc.
  • Electronics such as radios, TV’s, video game systems, etc.
  • Alcohol, firearms, fireworks, pets

Weather?                This is a “rain or shine” event. In case of severe weather, contact the individuals listed below.

Registration:          Will be online

Insurance:               Liability as well as Sickness and Accident Insurance is provided for all registered members and leaders of the Heart of America Council.

Boy Scouts

 

2022 Blue Elk Klondike

The Klondike is a District event in which Scouts participate in a winter skills competition. Camping will begin on FridayJanuary 21, 2022, at 5:00 p.m. Units may camp Friday, but camping out is not a required part of the event. Reservations must be made with the Klondike staff. The event officially begins on Saturday at 8:00 a.m. and ends at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday! Units have the option to camp Saturday night as well.

The H. Roe Bartle Scout Reservation encompasses over 4,200 acres in the Ozark Hills on Truman Lake.

The Theodore Naish Scout Reservation stretches over 1,100 acres and overlooks the Kaw River.
