Kansas City Scout Named VFW Scout of the Year

The VFW’s National Scout of the Year program honors members of the BSA and Girl Scouts who display standout citizenship, patriotism and love of country with the opportunity to be rewarded with college scholarships. This year's top recipient is a standout and prime example of what it means to be a Scout in both organizations.

After a nationwide search, we’re excited to share that Kansas City’s very own Jacqueline Abnos has been selected as the 2020 VFW Scout of the Year. Jacqueline was sponsored by VFW Post 1829 in Kansas City, Missouri and is a member of Troop 6010, Crew 2286 and Girl Scout Troop 3033. As a Venturing Summit Award and Gold Award recipient currently working toward her Eagle Scout, Jacqueline was selected for her leadership, dedication to scouting and her activism.

As the first place 2020 VFW Scout of the Year Jacqueline will receive a $5,000 college scholarship.

Congratulations Jacqueline and thanks for proving that Scouts from Kansas City are some of the best in the nation!
