Tetrick Named New Council President

After nearly two decades of service to Scouting in Kansas City, Charlie Tetrick has been selected as the next president of the Heart of America Council, BSA.

An entrepreneur from a young age, Charlie started his own advertising agency fresh out of college. Still in his 20s, he became managing partner and later sole owner of Walz Tetrick Advertising in 1994. Under Charlie's leadership the agency, which celebrated 50 years in 2017, has grown in size, expertise and capability, winning global, national and prominent local accounts.

In Scouting, Charlie is a longtime member of the Heart of America Council’s Executive Committee and Board of Directors, with the majority of his tenure spent as Vice President of Marketing.

Charlie is also heavily involved in the Kansas City community and currently serves as Chairman of the Board of the American Royal. He’s a passionate advocate for entrepreneurship and has served as chairman for both the Centurions Leadership Program and the Young Entrepreneurs’ Organization.

Charlie is also no stranger to politics serving as Advisor to Governors Sam Brownback and Jeff Colyer, as well as a Gubernatorial Appointee to both the Kansas Works State Board and Governor’s Economic Council.

He is an active member of the Advertising Federation of Kansas City, sits on the Board of Governors of the American Association of Advertising Agencies, and was recognized as one of Ingram’s Magazine’s “40 Under 40.”

Charlie is a native of Tulsa, OK and graduated from the University of Kansas. He and his wife Tracy live in Fairway, KS and have three children, including one Eagle Scout son. He enjoys golfing, vintage cars and the outdoors.

We look forward to an exciting year of innovation, growth, and success under Charlie’s leadership in 2020.
