Kansas Scout Selected as National OA Conference Vice-Chief

The Heart of America Council is proud to announce the selection of Joseph Ward as a National Order of the Arrow Conference Vice-Chief. Joseph will lead a team of more than 25 volunteers as part of the Arrowman Conservation Education and Sustainability Committee at the National Order of the Arrow Conference this August at Michigan State University. The National Order of the Arrow Conference will host more than 10,000 Arrowmen from around the world for a week of fun, learning, and inspiration.

The Arrowman Conservation Education and Sustainability (ACES) committee is responsible for delivering a sustainable National Order of the Arrow Conference and promoting conservation and sustainability through programs and training courses offered at the conference. The committee will build on previous conferences, which have featured conference-wide water, energy and waste conservation campaigns, conservation service projects and a conservation village featuring activities and vendors relevant to the Order of the Arrow's environmental stewardship mission. The ACES village will feature a sustainability trail based on the UN Sustainable Development Goals and activities celebrating the 25th anniversary of the OA High Adventure program.

Joseph is a Vigil Honor member of Tamegonit Lodge and an Eagle Scout from Troop 83 in Olathe, Kansas. He currently serves as the OA Section Chief for a five-council area including Kansas City, Topeka, Des Moines, Springfield, and Columbia.
