Council Membership Growth Resources
Youth membership is the key to your success as a unit. Without youth participating in your Pack, Troop, or Crew, there's not much reason to have a Scouting unit. WIthout youth joining your unit, there aren't as many parents you can involve to run a fun and exciting program for your youth. Fortunately, there are many resources available at the council and national level which you can use to make the job of promoting your unit, attracting youth and adults, and registering new people in your unit easier. These resources are freely available to you at any time throughout the year! for a list of these resources, go to HOAC Recruitment Resources.
Cub Scout Fall Recruitment
Back to school season is a great time for Cub Scout recruitment. There will be a District School Night for Scouting Kick-off held on August 1st at 7:00 pm at the Pizza Shoppe in Platte Woods. The event will help provide your unit with information and resources to guarantee the best recruitment possible. It is highly encouraged that a member of your unit Key 3 and the unit membership chair attend. This is the first step for providing the best possible program to as many families as we can. More information will be forthcoming; please contact Anthony Gonnello by July 26th with the number of leaders from your unit that will be attending.
Webelos Den Leaders, Cubmasters, Scoutmasters, and Unit Commissioners all play a key role in Webelos to Scout Transition. Your goal should be to cross over 100% of your Webelos to a Boy Scout Troop. Want to know more about the specific responsibilities for a pack or troop? Click here.
For information about Pack contacts if you are a Boy Scout Troop leader seeking to invite Webelos to your Troop or Troop contacts if you are a Cub Scout Pack leader seeking to learn more about local Troops, please email Anthony Gonnello for a database of leader contact information.
William D. Boyce New Unit Organizer Award
The Northern Lights District is always looking for new Chartered Partners and New Units to grow Scouting. If you are interested in getting your organization involved in outdoor programs and teaching youth to make ethical decisions over their lifetime, contact your District Executive, Anthony Gonnello, or our Membership Chair, Dan Walstrom.
If you help start a new Cub Scout Pack, Boy Scout Troop, or Venturing Crew, you can earn the William D. Boyce New Unit Organizer Award.
Troop Open House
The Boy Scout Troop Open House allows a troop to swing open its doors and roll out the red carpet to welcome guests. It provides a forum to show off Scouting activities and the Troop's accomplishments. It is an effective tool to reach youth who have never tried Scouting. Click here for Troop Open House Resources.
Would you like to increase your Venturing Crew membership? Hold a Venturing Crew Open House and plan an awesome program to create energy and excitement in your program. Click here for the Venturing Recruitment Toolbox.
