Keeping Scouts Safe from Storms at Summer Camp

Prepared...for anything. From new tornado sirens to text alerts, safety is our top priority when it comes to our summer camps. Our council operates two of the most attended and secure summer camps in the country at the H. Roe Bartle Scout Reservation and Theodore Naish Scout Reservation and mandatory training is where it all begins. From day one, every staff member and camper is trained on how to handle severe weather and what to do if the weather turns dangerous.

All camps are fitted with state-of-the-art storm shelters and we continue to partner with FEMA and NOAA for real-time updates. Weather at both Naish and Bartle is also monitored 24/7 by a staff member dedicated to keeping an eye on the skies.

We sat down with KSHB 41 for an in-depth look at our unparalleled safety standards when it comes to operating two of the largest Scout camps in the country.
