The Shawnee Trails District serves the Shawnee Mission School District. The Shawnee Trails District and the Heart of America Council is dedicated to supporting the volunteer Scout leaders in the local Scout units as they provide the programs of the Boy Scouts of America to the youth of this area.

Shawnee Trails District Dinner
January 29, 2020 | 6:00 PM
District Dinner will be held at Johnson County Arts & Heritage Center (8788 Metcalf Ave, Overland Park, KS 66212). Doors will open at 5:45 pm to socialize and dinner will be served at 6:00 pm.
Cost is $20 for the Early Bird Special until January 17, 2020. Regular registration is $25 until January 24, 2020. Dinner includes a catered Bar-B-Que dinner, dessert, and beverages.
The Shawnee Trails District Dinner celebrates the accomplishments of the volunteers in the Shawnee Trails District. The exciting evening will highlight the awarding of the District Award of Merit. The highest award a district can bestow upon an individual for their outstanding service to our youth. The event is for all leaders and their families. Feel free to reserve a table for your unit, or register individually, tables seat 8.

2020 Recharter Time:
Recharter for 2020 is now online. Recharter packets were distributed at the November Roundtable. If you are need of your packet or have questions please contact Matt Thoman. You can find rechartering resources here.
2020 Merit Badge Forum:
The Shawnee Trails Merit Badge Forum will be back at Westridge Middle School in 2020. Westridge Middle School is located at 9300 Nieman Road, Overland Park, KS 66214. Forum dates for 2020 are Saturday February 1st and the 15th. The Forum will be both Saturday's from 8AM - 1PM. The cost for the event is $4/Scout through December 23, 2019 and then $5/Scout through January 6, 2020.
Sign-up is a two-part process this year. Units must submit their class registration electronically to John Lilak
. Payment must be completed by mailing or delivering a check and
the unit registration form to the council office this year. Individual registrations and walk-ins will not be accepted. Registration closes January 6, 2020.

2020 Community Service Project:
We are pleased to be partnering with the Shawnee Mission School District for our 3rd Annual Backpack Drive for school supplies. This is a great opportunity for all Scouts to give back to those in our local school district. We have been asked to commit to 150 backpacks again this year, and just like last year, we are sure to exceed the expectation.
Now is a great time to help collect the needed supplies with the back-to-school sales going on in local stores. To help facilitate the needs of the district we have created a Sign Up Genius so you can sign up as a unit or for a personal contribution.
