Scout Day at the K Welcomes 12,000 Scouts

April 30 - Kauffman Stadium

Despite a soggy start, more than 12,000 Scouts and their families packed Kauffman Stadium on April 30 for Scout Day at the K - one of the largest Scouting events in the country. Scouts threw out the first pitch, received VIP early access to the stadium, served as color guard, participated in a pregame parade and helped collect enough canned food and cash donations to provide 5,573 meals for Harvesters - The Community Food Network.

But more than just a day at the ballpark, the event also recognized area Eagle Scouts. The presentation of the Ewing M. Kauffman Distinguished Eagle Scout Award is a Scout Day tradition and honors adult Eagle Scouts for their positive contributions to the Kansas City community. This year’s recipients were David Dillon – Retired, Chairman & CEO, Kroger Company; Bishop James Johnston – Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph; Doug Price – President, Price Brothers Management Company; Seth Sinovic – Professional Soccer Player, Sporting Kansas City; Willard Snyder – Attorney/Chairman, The Breidenthal-Snyder Foundation. The award — and Kauffman Stadium — are named for Eagle Scout Ewing M. Kauffman.
