Receives Meritorious Achievement Award

KC Scout Recognized for Bravery

True leadership isn't just about what you do in uniform—it’s about how you react when it matters most. Now, a local Scout is being honored after her quick thinking, bravery, and skill.

Olivia Z., a Webelos Scout from Pack 900 in Kansas City was attending a neighborhood pool party when she noticed a young girl who couldn’t swim accidentally fall into the deep end. As she struggled beneath the surface, Olivia didn't wait for someone else to act.

Remembering what she learned in Scouting, Olivia immediately recognized the signs of distress. Without hesitation, she reached the struggling girl, and pulled her back to the surface. Olivia stayed calm, navigated them both to safety, and assisted the girl out of the pool.

To recognize Olivia’s extraordinary act of Scouting heroism and skill, she was presented the Heart of America Council’s Meritorious Achievement Award during a special presentation. Congratulations Olivia on this amazing achievement of bravery!
