After a thorough and nationwide search, Brick Huffman has been selected as the new Scout Executive/CEO of the Heart of America Council, Boy Scouts of America. As the council’s new chief executive officer, Huffman will provide leadership to an organization that brings Scouting to nearly 29,000 youth members in 19 counties in and around the Kansas City metropolitan area.
A native of Belton, MO, Brick returns to the Kansas City area with more than 30 years of professional Scouting experience. Brick began his Scouting career as a district executive with the Hawkeye Area Council in Cedar Rapids, IA. He moved on to become district director and later assistant Scout executive with the Central Minnesota Council in St. Cloud, MN.
He was promoted to director of finance for the St. Louis Area Council in St. Louis, MO, followed by a stint as director of field service at the Heart of America Council in Kansas City, MO. He then assumed the role of Scout executive of the Golden Spread Council in Amarillo, TX, and then joined the Central Region team as the area director for Area 5. Most recently, he served as Scout executive of the South Florida Council in Miami, FL.
Brick is an Eagle Scout, Hardway Warrior and Sachem in the Tribe of Mic-O-Say, and Vigil Member of the Order of the Arrow. He and his wife, Marti, have two children: 13-year-old daughter, Sarah, and 11-year-old son, Cole.
