HOAC Scout Named OA Section Vice-Chief

The Order of the Arrow Section C5B is pleased to announce the selection of Joseph Ward as Section Vice-Chief. Joseph will help provide leadership for the Order of the Arrow for five OA lodges in Kansas, Missouri, and Iowa. In addition, he will represent the area regionally and nationally over the next year, including at the National Order of the Arrow Conference this summer.

Joseph is a youth arrowman from Tamegonit Lodge in the Heart of America Council. He resides in Overland Park, Kansas. Previously, Joe served as the 2017-18 Section C5B Vice-Chief and the 2016-17 Section Secretary. Joe is currently a senior at Shawnee Mission South High School, and he plans to attend Kansas State University, Manhattan, Kansas, in the fall.

For more than 100 years, the Order of the Arrow (OA) has recognized Scouts and Scouters who best exemplify the Scout Oath and Law in their daily lives. This recognition provides encouragement for others to live these ideals as well. Arrowmen are known for maintaining camping traditions and spirit, promoting year-round and long term resident camping, and providing cheerful service to others. OA service, activities, adventures, and training for youth and adults are models of quality leadership development and programming that enrich and help to extend Scouting to America's youth.

Section C5B is comprised of the following lodges/councils:

  • Dzie-Hauk Tonga Lodge/Jayhawk Area Council (Topeka, KS)
  • Mitigwa Lodge/Mid-Iowa Council (Des Moines, IA)
  • Nampa-Tsi Lodge/Great Rivers Council (Columbia, MO)
