Swimming Merit Badge (Midwest Aquatics)

An Eagle required merit badge, Scouts who earn Swimming Merit Badge will learn about safety when swimming and diving, how swimming can contribute to overall fitness and health, and gain some basic competitive swimming skills.

Scouts must attend both sessions  | Cost: $25 | Limit 25 Scouts

Lifesaving Merit Badge (Midwest Aquatics)

November 17 & 24 and December 1

The main purpose of the Lifesaving merit badge is to prepare Scouts to assist those involved in water accidents, teaching them the basic knowledge of rescue techniques, the skills to perform them, and the judgment to know when and how to act so that they can be prepared for emergencies.

Scouts must attend all 3 sessions  | Cost: $25 | Limit 25 Scouts

Course Pre-requisites / Important Info:

  • Scout must have completed Swimming Merit Badge
  • Scouts must attend all 3 sessions to complete the merit badge
  • Read the Lifesaving Merit Badge book prior to attending session
  • Complete workbook by the second session
  • Complete Safe Swim Defense Training online by the second session
  • Be prepared for the "in the water” requirement prior to attending session
  • Requirement 2b is the hardest requirement: We strongly recommend practice the strokes before attending the class. Swim continuously for 400 yards using each of the following strokes in a strong manner for a least 50 yards of front crawl, sidestroke, breaststroke, and elementary backstroke

This is a complete course and Scouts must select only one session to attend | Cost: $25

Merit Badge Make-Up Sessions

August | Midwest Aquatics | Noon - 3:30pm

Need to make-up Swimming or Lifesaving Merit Badge requirements that you missed at summer camp this year? We're offering merit badge make-up sessions at Midwest Aquatics (7565 160th St, Overland Park, KS 66085).

We will have sessions for Swimming Merit Badge on August 4 and August 11 (limited to 20 Scouts per session) and Lifesaving Merit Badge on August 18  (limited to 20 Scouts). 

*This is not a complete course. It is only available to those Scouts who took Swimming or Lifesaving Merit Badge at either Naish or Bartle and did not complete all the requirements.
