H. Roe Bartle Scout Reservation

The H. Roe Bartle Scout Reservation, located in Osceola, Missouri, is home to over 6,600 Boy Scouts and 3,000 leaders each summer. The 4,200 acre reservation consists of three camps Lone Star, Sawmill, and Piercing Arrow and the Osage Wilderness Trail. The H. Roe Bartle Scout Reservation has been a summer home to Scouting and it’s honor camping program the Tribe of Mic-O-Say since 1929.

Boy Scout Camp Draw

The H Roe Bartle Scout Reservation draw will be held at the Council Service Center, 10210 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO, on October 22, 2015 and at the Police Academy, 6885 NE Pleasant Valley Rd, Kansas City, MO 64119 on October 24, 2015.

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 16, 2015 - HOAC Staff will place (no unit representation is required). 

  • < > troops that camped 70 or more Scouts and full-time leaders - Requests must be in before October 14th.

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 22, 2015 (Held at the Council Service Center)  -  Check in begins at 6:00pm - Troops must pay before the draw!

  • 6:30pm single troops that camped 60-69 Scouts and full-time leaders

  • 7:00pm single troops that camped 50-59 Scouts and full-time leaders

  • 7:30pm single troops that camped 40-49 Scouts and full-time leaders

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 24, 2015 **(Held at the Policy Academy)** NEW LOCATION  -   Check in begins at 8:00am - Troops must pay before the draw!

  • 8:30am single troops that camped 30-39 Scouts and full-time leaders

  • 9:30am single troops that camped 20-29 Scouts and full-time leaders

  • 10:30am single troops that camped 10-19 Scouts and full-time leaders

  • 11:30am single troops that camped 9 or less Scouts and full-time leaders

Lakefront Program:

The Harry S. Truman Reservoir is the backdrop for the H. Roe Bartle Scout Reservation’s lakefront programs.

Merit Badges Offered: Small Boat Sailing, Rowing, Canoeing, Kayaking, Fishing, Motor-boating, Water Sports.

Other Program Offerings: Leaders who teach other merit badges not offered by the camp, may volunteer to teach during the session they will attend. Please coordinate this with the camp by calling 417-646-8115.

Outpost Programs

The Outpost Programs offer the opportunity get Scouts out of camp and into exciting activities. Most programs offer a dutch oven meal for dinner.

Outpost Activities: Action Archery, Briley Creek Gun Club, Supper with Snakes, Carnival in the Woods, Cliff Hanger, Davy Crocket, Diner in the Oaks, Indian Village, Lewis & Clark Canoe Trip, Lobo's Challenge, Mountain Man Village, Turkey Wing Gun Club, & Up and Down Cave

The H. Roe Bartle Scout Reservation is home to the Osage Wilderness Trail.

Directions to H. Roe Bartle from Kansas City

After reaching Highway 13, go South to Highway C. Take Highway C East approximately 12 miles to a stop sign. Turn right (South) through the town of Iconium, MO. At the cemetery turn right (West) one NE Scout Camp Road. Continue less than ½ mile to Camp Piercing Arrow entrance. Go another mile to Camps Lone Star and Sawmill entrances.
