Special Events to Showcase Scouting
The Heart of America Council conducts several special events each year providing a fun way to support Scouting and great exposure for our sponsors!
The Hike A Mile in Their Shoes event helps support the Urban Scouting program that serves more than 6,300 young men and women in the urban core of Kansas City. The event is scheduled for October 24th, 2018. Another highlight of the evening includes the awarding of two Eagle Scout scholarships to Eagles who have been served by our Urban Scouting program.

Our Sporting Clays Classic will conduct its reception and auction on Friday, October 5th at The Historic Rumley Tractor Event Space in the West Bottoms starting at 6:00 p.m. The Sporting Clays Tournament will be held on Saturday, October 13th on our Trust property near Camp Naish.

Our Thanks a Brunch event is a mom-only fundraising event that connects Scout moms from across the council. All proceeds benefit the Heart of America Council's Scoutreach program. Scoutreach ensures that all young people have the opportunity to participate in Scouting in Kansas City’s urban and rural neighborhoods regardless of their circumstances, neighborhood, or ethnic background.

The George Meany Awards Dinner recognizes those Scouters and organizations from the AFL-CIO labor community. This year's dinner will be held on August 23, 2018 at the Argosy Casino Ballroom at 6:00 p.m. Each year there are two George Meany Awards given to volunteer Scouters who have made a significant contribution to the youth in our community through the Scouting program.

The Boy Scout Golf Classic was held held on Tuesday, May 22 at The National II Golf Club. More than $50,000 was raised for local Scouting programs that help support more that 29,000 Scouts in the Heart of America Council. The event included an afternoon of golf followed by an awards dinner.
