Philmont Council Contingent

Take a hike! The mountains of New Mexico offer the adventure that you have always dreamed about. Backpacking, rock climbing, western lore, living history, and the views from peaks over 10,000 feet tall will make memories that last a lifetime.

The Heart of America Council Contingent will be departing July 6, 2015 and returning July 20. There are currently 5 openings available on this contingent. If you are interested, please contact Leslie Staack in the Camping Department.

Fee per participant is $1,200.00 ($300 deposit is non-refundable but transferable).


Important Dates:

Informational Meeting - Council Service Center - November 12, 2014, 7pm

Shakedown #1 - Naish Scout Reservation -March 21-22

Shakedown #2 - Naish Scout Reservation - May 9 (Day hike only; no overnight)

More information on Shakedowns will be emailed to the entire contingent in February.

Future Contingents

The 2016 Council Contingent Draw for Philmont AND the Summit will be April 28, 2015 at the Council Service Center, beginning at 7pm. The Non-Refundable deposit, due at the time of draw, is $300. Fees and payment schedule will be available that evening.


Other Information

Campership Application - Needs to be turned into the Council Office by December 19, 2014 for treks taking place Summer 2015.  Any applications turned in after this date are not guaranteed assistance.
