Types of Campaigns
Family Campaign- This campaign is designated for Families already involved in Scouting to invest in the Program.
The Investment in Character Campaign is the direct fundraising campaign conducted annually by the Heart of America Council to provide each family in Scouting the opportunity to make a financial contribution to the operating success of the Council. Without the financial support of our families, many of the services available to units such as youth camperships, camp staff scholarships, adult leader training, insurance, full-time staff at the office and camps, and recruitment and marketing materials would be severely compromised or unavailable.
So far in 2018 we have raised over $28,000 toward Scouting in our district. We are on our way to reaching our $41,600 goal. Your unit should schedule an Investment in Character presentation to be held at a major unit function, such as a Pack Blue & Gold ceremony or Troop or Crew Court of Honor.
To schedule your unit's Investment in Character Presentation, email a date, time, and location to Paul Taylor at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Community Campaign- This campaign looks for business in our communities that would like to invest in Scouting and hosts Special Events throughout the District where proceeds benefit our District's Investment in Character goal.
In 2018 we have already raised nearly $1,600 towards our $10,000 goal. Know a business in the Pelathe District that could help? Contact us here!
The James E. West Fellowship Award is a national recognition for those who contribute $1,000 or more in cash or securities to their local council endowment trust fund. This contribution is in addition to, and should not diminish or replace, the donor's gift to the council's annual Investment in Character campaign. The award is named after the first Chief Scout Executive of the Boy Scouts of America who exemplified Ralph Waldo Emerson's observation that "an institution is the lengthened shadow of one man". Recognition items include a personalized certificate, square knot, lapel pin and their name on a plaque for display in the Starr Scout Service Center.
