Terrence Dunn — Fast Wigwam Builder
At the 2002 Tribal Feast, Terry Dunn, Sachem Fast Wigwam Builder, was named as the 73rd Presiding Chieftain of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say.
Terry Dunn was a Boy Scout as a youth in the troop at St. Agnes Catholic Church and member of the troop committee for Troop 395 at Cure of Ars Catholic Church when his sons were Scouts. Two of his three sons are Eagle Scouts, and all three are tribesmen. Terry was called as an Honorary Warrior in 1987 and elevated to a Sachem in 1992.
Terry Dunn has been involved with the Heart of America Council as an Executive Board member for at least twenty years. He has served as Council Treasurer and Vice President of Finance. He served as President from 1992-1994 and chaired the Endowment Campaign for two years. He continues to be a valued member of the Executive Committee and Board of the council.
Since 1995 he has been a member of the Central Region’s Executive Board, and served as its President from 1999 to 2001. Since 1997 he has also been a member of the National Council’s Executive Board and has chaired the National Council’s Finance Committee, and is now chairman of the national High Adventure Committee.
Terry has received the highest award that can be bestowed by the Heart of America Council, the Silver Beaver Award. He has also received the Silver Antelope Award from the Central Region, its highest honor. Recently he received the Spirit of Kansas City Award from the Gillis Center.
Professionally, Terry is an accomplished business executive and civic leader in the Kansas City area. He is President of J. E. Dunn Construction Company, the nationally recognized Kansas City based commercial builder with many magnificent structures to its credit. He has served as the Chairman of Rockhurst University’s Trustees, Chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City and Board Member and Chairman of the Heart of America United Way. He is also active in the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce, Midwest Research Institute and St. Luke’s Hospital.
