The Blue Elk District serves eastern Jackson County, including the cities and towns of Independence, Sugar Creek, Buckner, Blue Springs, Grain Valley and Oak Grove.

Ambassador of Scouting Dinner
2018 Honoree is Detective Keegan Hughes
Keegan Hughes is a 15-year Blue Springs Police Department Veteran. He is currently a Detective assigned to general investigations. Since 2013, Keegan has covered over 900 miles in endurance events where he has worn his full police uniform. Most notably, was this year when he ran across the State of Missouri honoring fallen first responders and raising money for charity.
Elbert K. Fretwell Outstanding Educator Award
Dr. Elbert K. Fretwell was a professor of education at Columbia University, and the 2nd Chief Scouting Executive of the BSA. The Fretwell Award is presented to teachers, educational support staff, and school administrators who stand out from their professional peers in instilling Scouting values and community service.
The Blue Elk District serves youth in 5 school districts in Jackson County, and will be recognizing the 2018 Elbert K. Fretwell Award recipients from each school district, at the Ambassador of Scouting Dinner.

The Blue Elk District Dinner Roundtables are held the first Thursday of each month (except July) at 7:00 p.m. at Colonial Hills Community of Christ Church located at 3539 SW State Route 7, Blue Springs, MO. Our Roundtable staff puts on an outstanding Roundtable Program giving all of our Packs, Troops, and Crews excellent program ideas.
