At the 2014 Tribal Celebration, William C. (Bill) Esry, Keeper of the Wampum Little Brother Speeding Spear, was named the 85th Presiding Chieftain of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say.

As a youth, Bill was a Cub Scout in Pack 173 and a Boy Scout in Troop 226 in Independence, MO where he earned the rank of Eagle Scout. Bill became a Brave in 1973, a Warrior in 1974 and a Firebuilder in 1975. In 2005, Bill was elevated to Sachem and then was elevated to Keeper of the Wampum in 2010.

Bill has served in several leadership positions for the Blue Elk District including four years as District Chairman. Bill has served as a member of the Heart of America Council Board of Directors since 2007 and served as the President of the Council for 2009-2010. He has also served as a commissioner at the Bartle Scout Reservation since 2005.

Bill has received the District Award of Merit, is a Life Member Dog Soldier and a James E. West Fellow. In addition, Bill has received the highest award that can be bestowed by the Heart of America Council, the Silver Beaver Award.

Bill is active in his community providing leadership to the Rotary Club of Independence, First Presbyterian Church of Independence, Independence/Raytown Chambers of Commerce, Truman Heartland Community Foundation, the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City, Blue Springs Economic Development Corporation, Centerpoint Hospital and the Missouri Independent Bankers Association. He is a past recipient of the Outstanding Civic Leader Award for Independence.

Professionally, Bill is a life-long community banker with Blue Ridge Bank and Trust Co. currently serving as President and Chief Executive Officer.
