The nights are getting longer and the temperatures are going to be falling soon. That can only mean one thing: it's time for Haunted Trails again this fall! We need your help to make sure all our Cub Scouts have a great time. On Saturday, October 26, we will haunt the trails at Cub World at Naish Scout Reservation. Cub Scouts will begin hiking the trail at 5:30 p.m. that evening. Venturing Crews will need to begin setting up at noon and be completed by 5:00 p.m. with their set-up. The last Cub Scouts will begin their hike at 9:30 p.m.

Over the past several weeks, you have been answering a survey that the VOA sent out. Well, you spoke and we listened. One of the most popular activities cited that you wanted to do was climbing. One December 28-29, we are going to IBEX Climbing Gym for some indoor climbing, pizza and fun! The cost for this is only $40 and includes an overnight at the gym, pizza on the night of December 28 and breakfast the next morning. Participants must be at least 13 years of age. You can download the VOA Winter Event flyer here or register online at http://VOAWinterEvent.kintera.org. We are looking forward to seeing you there!

The Venturing Officer's Association (VOA) is comprised of four elected youth members voted on by Venturing Crew members from across the Heart of America Council among nominations submitted from across the Council on a yearly basis. Their term runs from May 1 through April 30 of the following year. Additional leadership positions exist as determined by the needs of the VOA.
The VOA meets on a monthly basis and one of their key responsibilities is to plan and execute activities throughout the year to provide Venturing Crews throughout the Heart of America Council some activities to supplement the program already planned as a Venturing Crew. Those events include the VOA Winter Event, VOA Awards Banquet, VOA Triathlon, and the VOA Haunted Trails.
If you want to learn more about the VOA, or want to volunteer to help run one of these events, or have an idea for an event of which you would like to lead the planning, promoting and delivery, please contact the members of the VOA by emailing Cortland Bolles, VOA Staff Adviser, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
VOA Meetings can found on the council calendar by clicking here. VOA Meetings are held on the second Monday of the month at 7:00 p.m. at the Heart of America Council Office, 10210 Holmes Rd, KC MO, unless otherwise noted on the council calendar.
