2016 Venturing and VOA Upcoming Events
The VOA meets on a monthly basis from 7:00-8:00pm at the Council Service Center. One of their key responsibilities is to plan and execute activities throughout the year to provide Venturing Crews throughout the Heart of America Council some activities to supplement the program already planned as a Venturing Crew. Those events include the VOA Winter Event, VOA Awards Banquet, and the VOA Haunted Trails. Ideally, at least one Officer from every Crew in the Council would be in attendance to every VOA meeting. The upcoming meetings are as follows:
If you want to learn more about the VOA, or want to volunteer to help run one of these events, or have an idea for an event of which you would like to lead the planning, promoting and delivery, please contact the members of the VOA by emailing Stephanie Regalia, VOA and Venturing Staff Adviser, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
VOA Meetings can found on the council calendar by clicking here. VOA Meetings are held at the Heart of America Council Office, 10210 Holmes Rd, KC MO.
Recent Age Requirement Changes Took Effect March 1
Remember that all new Venturer youth over the age of 18 must fill out an Adult Application, with Consent for Criminal Background Check, rather than the Youth Application. They must also take Venturing Youth Protection Training at www.myscouting.org. Please see page 7 of the guidelines listed in this site for all details. http://www.scouting.org/filestore/venturing/pdf/VenturingFAQs.pdf

The Venturing Summit Awards application will be available February 9 at www.scouting.org/scoutsource/Venturing.aspx.

Crews are holding events all the time, and many of you are looking for additional ways to promote your events. The VOA wants to help you by providing information about your crew event on the council website. All you have to do is provide a flyer with your crews event info (event name, who, what, when, where, why, how, costs, contacts, etc) to the VOA at email@example.com at least 6 weeks in advance of your event and we will post it to this page of the council website to help you promote your event.
If you are aware of an item that is scheduled but not listed above, you need more information, or if you have questions about Venturing activities throughout the council, please contact the VOA at firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you have questions about starting a Crew or joining a Crew, please click here to contact the District Executive in your community or contact Elisa Corry at 816-569-4966.
